Hastings

We left Wellington to go North, missed the way and almost got lost on an never ending, very small road to Kapiti Coast. When arriving at Paraparaumu, we took our time at the local Southwards Car Museum which displays about 250 classic cars, bikes, bicycles and also two airoplanes. After that we had pie-lunch at the windy Te Horo Beach and went on with our initial plan, going to Hastings. The crossing over the Central Plateau was a stunning journey trough various little towns (with names that sounded very familiar Swedish, or somehow Northlandic – early settlements of fairhaired Europeans) and led us directly to Hawke’s Bay (in which Hastings, Havelock North and Napier are nestled). A city walk and another takeaway, savoured at the Motel, rounded up the day.
