Te Mata Peak

Havelock North ist like the most small cities in NZ: One big main street, many colourful and fancy advertisings there, surrounding residential quarters. In the South of Havelock North Te Mata Peak shows great lenghts: It’s not so high but the street unwinds one kilometer after the other until it finally reaches the summit (by car, of course – walking had taken us a day!). Alltough the peak is one of the windiest we’ve seen, the view on Hawke’s Bay is fabulous down the steep cliffs to all sides.
