Lake Tekapo and Pukaki

Stayed at Timaru for a night to have the nearest acces route to the lakes Tekapo and Pukaki. The were created when the terminal moraines of receding glaciers blocked their respective valleys, forming moraine-dammed lakes. In December, the turquois colour (the distinctive greenblue is created by glacial flour, the extremely fine gound rock particles of glaciers)of the lake matches the violet lupin fields around them perfectly. Sadly, lupins were no longer blooming. Luckily, the were already seeding and we filled two plastic bags with dry beans to be dismantled back at the motel (I didn’t know it would take me two weeks and several hours of work to take them to pieces).
