Point Elizabeth

This track is a must for Greymouth visitors. Although we got caught by a typical NZ change of weather which left us dripping, it was fine afterwards and the plants were unfolding again in the warmth of the sun. Of what we’ve heard the wind can be harsh there (and the bent growth of the trees indicated that), but again not enough to keep us from doing that coastal walk. Just a few people there, and we’ve met a (wild?) dog that was running with us a time and then just vanished into the bush. From some points at the cliffs, boards say one might be able to watch dolphins and whales, but we saw none.
