I never felt like being an Austrian that much before

Moving away from Austria allows us to reflect on what we are and where we came from. Actually I never felt like being an Austrian that much as I do now, 18,000 km away from home. Living in a completely different society opens the view on yourself. Some things that we were fleeing from seem to appear in completely different light when watched from a neutral external position and I start learning a lot about myself in these days.

Watching a short snippet of a nature documentary about Europes mountains on TV enforces a weird feeling of pride being European. It’s difficult to describe. Never thought that would ever happen at all.
