Harwoods Hole

The mostly carstic formation of Takaka Hill shows some interesting sights: The Ngarua Caves, formations at Hawke’s Lookout, the Canaan Plains  and Harwood Hole for example ~ but the latter is no walk for kids as the site is not secured at all with some ancient rockfall that lays across the valley entry (a potential bone breaker, as we call it). So we took a morning to explore the region while the kids had their classes. The 10 km gravel road goes faster every time we do it, and also the said 45 min walk was done faster, despite taking pictures all the time.
