Gentle Annie

… is the name of a road that gave us some spontaneous ideas on how it might have come to live. But … it takes its name from the descent from the Central Plateau into the Kaweka forest, which used to be a steep street with rough gravel surface. Today, travelling on Gentle Annie has become comfortable, it’s fully sealed and our way from Napier to Taihape was as good as on any other motorway in whole NZ. Sadly, the weather was unstable and we made most of the way in pouring rain and rather windy conditions. The stop at Rangitikei River was again sunny (funny NZ weather!).
